Leonard and Margaret Kelley Scholarship
By Alyssa Bump • April 3, 2026
Created by the Kelley Family, this scholarship supports Genesee Valley and Fillmore graduates attending SUNY schools or St. Bonaventure University.
Established in 2019, the Leonard and Margaret Kelley Memorial Scholarship honors two individuals whose lives reflected the value of education, hard work, and family.

Margaret and Leonard Kelley
Leonard owned and operated a dairy farm in West Almond, while Margaret dedicated 25 years to education as an English teacher and librarian at Angelica Central School. Leonard attended St. Bonaventure University, and Margaret was a graduate of SUNY Albany. Together, they built a life and raised eight children through perseverance and a deep belief in the importance of learning.
This scholarship provides assistance to graduates of Genesee Valley or Fillmore Central Schools who are attending a SUNY college or St. Bonaventure University.
The Kelley Family established this scholarship as a way to honor their parent's legacy and give back to future students pursuing higher education.
“[Leonard and Margaret] had 8 kids who all worked on the farm,” wrote their son, William (Bill) Kelley. “But doing well in school was of the utmost importance.”
Bill shared that their family saw this scholarship as a meaningful way to continue their parents' legacy.
“Our family felt that establishing this scholarship was a way to give back, in a small way, some of what Leonard and Margaret had given us,” he wrote.
