Allegany County Area Foundation Announces New Executive Director

The Allegany County Area Foundation Board of Directors President,  Carolyn Miller announces the appointment of Donna J. Sweet as Executive Director for the ACAF. Mrs. Sweet replaces Douglas Roorbach who resigned to take a new position out of state.

Mrs. Sweet lives in Cuba, NY with her husband, Lynnford Sweet.  She is a former school administrator for both public and private education. Her previous experience in administration, project management and volunteer service have provided a broad based background in Allegany County and surrounding communities which she brings to the Foundation. Mrs Sweet commences her new position on September 4, 2012. Mrs. Sweet is looking forward to working with the Foundation Board of Directors and will strive to continue the excellent work of the Foundation.

The ACAF is a non for profit foundation which awards scholarships to individuals and grants to community organizations. It also helps organizations secure their futures by managing endowment funds and ensures that an individuals’ desires for a legacy come to fruition by administering funds to benefit areas which they specify. Community foundations provide a method for turning gifts or bequests into endowed funds, with favorable tax benefits. Some see the Foundation as a community savings account, leveraging the pooled resources of many in order to accomplish greater things for the entire community.

The Allegany County Area Foundation invites you to show your support for the students and organizations in our community by becoming a Friend of the Foundation.
